Clarification: During the board meeting, it was stated that Performance Services could not construct our new gym if we pursue one. We have learned otherwise. Performance Services could not design/build the new gym UNDER OUR CURRENT AGREEMENT as it relates to a guaranteed energy savings project. Performance Services is a design/build firm with a lot of school work under their belts. We would need to execute a new agreement with them if we wanted them to undertake new construction. The Southwest Parke Board of School Trustees will meet Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 7 PM at the RPHS Library. We will be discussing the possibility of adding an auxiliary gym to the high school. We welcome all members of the public to attend, hear our discussion, and provide comment.
On Monday, April 8, 2024, all Southwest Parke schools will operate on an e-learning schedule. Students will receive learning packets tomorrow. Please have your students begin their lessons Monday morning because there are some pre-eclipse activities that should be completed in preparation for the big event Monday afternoon, as well as some observations to note as they experience it. If you have any questions regarding the activities, please reach out to the teachers.
The CDC has changed guidelines for Covid illness and it will now be treated like any other respiratory virus. Your student will no longer require a five (5) day isolation period before returning to school. Your student will now be able to return to school once they start to feel better with symptoms improving. However, your student must still be fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicine (Tylenol or Ibuprofen, etc.) before coming back to school.
You may take additional precautions for five days upon return to school such as wearing a mask and social distancing, but this is not a requirement for returning to school.

With our recent closures, the following flex and make up days will be used. Please mark your calendar and plan to be in school as follows: Monday, February 19, 2024 - In Session - Make up day from January 15, 2024; Friday, March 15, 2024 - In Session - Make up day from January 16, 2024; Friday, May 24, 2024 - In Session - Make up day from January 19, 2024. The state allows us three e-learning days per year. One will be April 8, 2024 for the eclipse. We will prepare e-learning plans for two additional days should weather closures be necessary in the future.
