The Riverton Parke Junior High Student Council held its first annual Toy Drive from December 5th to December 16th. The students of each junior high homeroom were challenged to see who could collect the most toys over the two week period. The prize for bringing in the most toys was a breakfast of square donuts and milk on the last day of school before Christmas break. Mrs. Brandi Adams’ and Mrs. Heather Sedletzeck’s 7th grade homerooms tied for the most toys brought in at 94 items each. A combination of 445 toys, games, and craft kits were given to the hospital, including those brought in by students and those purchased with a $200 donation from Riverton Parke Jr./Sr. High School.
Several RPJH Student Council members and Mrs. Heather Sedletzeck, the Junior High Student Council advisor and Toy Drive coordinator, were able to travel to Union Hospital on Monday to deliver the toys. All of the toys will stay in our local area as they are being distributed to the Pediatric Unit and Emergency Room at Union Hospital Terre Haute and the Emergency Room at Union Hospital Clinton.
