Twelve members of the Riverton Parke FFA Chapter competed in the Area Forestry and Crops Contests on Tuesday, November 15th held at Ivy Tech Community College in Terre Haute. In the Forestry Contest, students must identify leaves, seeds, woods, and tree disorders, as well as take a general knowledge exam about the forestry industry. In the Crops Contest, students must identify various crop and weed plants and seeds, diseases, damages and insects, and machinery, as well as complete a general knowledge agronomy quiz and grain grading. The Crops Judging Team will advance to the State Contest held at Purdue University on December 10th. The Forestry and Crops Judging Teams are coached by FFA advisor, Michaela Woods.
