Riverton Parke Jr./Sr. High School senior, Derron Hazzard, was surprised at school today with the Pepsi High School Athlete of the Week 2022 Award along with a $500 scholarship. This recognition is sponsored by Refreshment Services Pepsi, 100.7 MIX-FM, 99.9 WTHI, 102.7 WBOW, 98.5 The River, and 97.9 WIBQ. Derron was nominated for this award by someone in the community.
Derron is the son of Dan and Holly Hazzard. He plays football, basketball, baseball, and runs track. He is a member of the FFA and will be a 10 year member of the Florida Beach Bums 4-H club. He has earned Elks Athlete of the Month, football all-conference twice, basketball all- conference twice, baseball all-conference once, and honorable mention all-state. He is the co-vice president of the JAG program at RPHS. After high school, he wants to play college football.
