​  Top-Notch Performance at Area Livestock Skillathon Contest

Members of the Riverton Parke FFA Chapter competed in the Area V Livestock Skillathon Contest on Tuesday, September 13th held at the Clay County Fairgrounds.  The Livestock Skillathon Contest tests members' knowledge on various aspects of the animal industry.  Members must identify breeds, feeds, equipment, and cuts of meat, plus take a quality assurance and industry quiz. In the Senior FFA Division of 63 students, Sarah Brown placed 1st overall, Emily Adams placed 2nd, Sophie Sanders placed 6th, Jack Harrah placed 8th and Katilynn Koch placed 9th.  In the Junior Division of 56 students, Jase Martin placed 2nd overall, Joel Harrah placed 3rd and Thomas Koch placed 4th.  Nery Luna Sosa, Noelle Blake and Jaydon Shaffer also competed.  Both the senior and junior teams will advance to the State Competition on October 1st held at the Purdue Animal Science Research and Education Center in West Lafayette.  The Livestock Skillathon Team is coached by FFA Advisor, Michaela Woods.
