​  Riverton Parke FFA Attends State Convention

Thirteen members of the Riverton Parke FFA Chapter attended the 93rd Indiana FFA State Convention held June 14th - 16th.  On Tuesday, Natalie Pruitt and Abbie Roderick competed in the State Multimedia Scrapbook Leadership Development Event (LDE) held at Hamilton Southeastern High School.  That evening, members attended the First General Session of the State Convention where they heard greetings from the Governor of Indiana, Eric Holcomb, heard the retiring address from the Indiana FFA State Southern Region Vice President, Abby Stuckwisch, and were inspired by Dr. Laymon Hicks’ keynote address.  On Wednesday, members attended the Second General Session which included a keynote address from the National Southern Region Vice President, Erik Robinson, recognition of the top 4 teams in the various Career Development Events (CDEs) members compete in throughout the year, and a retiring address from Jordyn Wickard, Indiana FFA State Treasurer.  Collin Watson and Sarah Brown then attended the First Delegate Session where they represented the chapter in discussion and voted on changes for Indiana FFA.  Natalie Pruitt and Abbie Roderick represented the chapter as delegates during District VII and Section III Director elections.  Other members attended various Leadership Workshops throughout the afternoon.  At the Third General Session, members heard from the Lieutenant Governor, Suzanne Crouch, a retiring address from the Indiana FFA State Northern Region Vice President, Tyler Kilmer, and watched the proficiency awards.  To wrap up their time at the State Convention, members attended the Sixth and Final General Session.  During this session, Riverton Parke Jr./Sr. High School was recognized for being a ‘Superior Chapter,’ Kourtney Otte, Indiana FFA State President gave her retiring address, and Collin Watson and Sarah Brown participated in the Second Delegate Session which included voting on the proposed 2022-2023 Indiana FFA State Officer Team slate.  Fellow District VII member, Seth Ariens, will serve Indiana FFA this coming year as the state president.  The Riverton Parke FFA advisors are Micah Humphreys and Michaela Woods.
