Riverton Parke FFA members had the opportunity to teach Parke County 4th and 5th graders about various agricultural topics at the Annual Conservation Day and Ag Day. Both are hosted by the Parke County Soil and Water Conservation District and Parke County Extension. Conservation Day was held Thursday, May 12th at Rockville Lake Park. Sarah Brown, Emily Adams and Emma Ugoletti presented a station to the 5th graders about ‘Plant Science.’ They covered topics including types of plants, how to properly plant a seed, requirements for germination and transplanting. Ag Day was held Friday, May 13th at the Parke County Fairgrounds for all 4th grade students. Katie Watson, Katilynn Koch, Rhylie Cannon and Sophie Sanders presented a station over ‘Farm to Table.’ They used a pizza as an example to explain how all the ingredients are tied back to a farm. Dalton Keltz-Purcell, Collin Watson and Jack Harrah presented an ‘ATV Safety’ demonstration. They discussed proper safety equipment and practices that should be used when riding ATVs. Natalie Pruitt and Abbie Roderick were group leaders at Ag Day.
