Members of the Riverton Parke FFA competed in the Area V Crops and Forestry Contests held at the Putnam County Fairgrounds on Tuesday, November 16th. For the Crop Judging Contest, students must identify various crops, weeds, seeds, insects, diseases, and damages, as well as, complete grain evaluation and take a knowledge test. For the Forestry Judging Contest, students must identify various leaves, seeds, tree disorders, and wood, as well as, complete a knowledge test. High school FFA members, Abbie Roderick, Natalie Pruitt, Thomasina Archey, and Kelsie Blair, and junior high FFA member, Sophie Sanders, competed in the Crops Contest and qualified for the State Contest which will be held Saturday, December 11th at Purdue University. The junior high Forestry Team consisting of Annie Campbell, Kenzie Mundell, and Rhylie Cannon placed 4th in the team competition. The second junior high team, consisting of Jake Haase, Bradley McElheny, and Emma Ugoletti, placed 5th. Jake Haase was the 10th overall junior individual. Logan Johnson competed as an individual in the Forestry Contest. The Crops and Forestry Teams are coached by FFA Advisor, Michaela Woods.
