The Riverton Parke High School National Honor Society continues to exemplify their charter’s character of service by contributing to worthy causes and performing services in their community. For this project, the group collected dozens of children’s books for the Little Free Libraries in Rosedale and Bridgeton. The Little Free Libraries are intended to be a children’s book exchange to encourage literacy in rural areas that do not have libraries within walking distance. The motto is: “Take a book--Leave a book.”
For another project, the NHS collected “shoebox donations” of individually wrapped toothbrushes, bars of soap, and combs. These shoeboxes will be sent to Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse, to approximately 200 children in need. The NHS is sponsored by Kristi Johnson.
