Panthers Name New Honor Society Members

A dual induction of the Riverton Parke National Honor Society (NHS) and the Riverton Parke National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) was held on Thursday, March 4th in the gymnasium followed by a reception in the cafeteria. Nineteen students were inducted into the NHS. NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Four main purposes have guided chapters of NHS from the beginning: to create enthusiasm for scholarship; to stimulate a desire to render service; to promote leadership; and to develop character in the students of secondary schools. Requirements for induction included the demonstration of the characteristics of leadership, service, and character, as voted on by school personnel, and a minimum 3.5 GPA to meet the characteristic of scholarship.  Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service. The NHS sponsored by Kristi Johnson.
