FAFSA Filing Tips
FILING DATES: The current FAFSA is now OPEN-Deadline April 15, 2026 BEFORE MIDNIGHT!
Filing the FAFSA is always FREE! If you get on a site that tries to charge you, YOU ARE ON THE WRONG SITE!
All seniors must apply. It is a state of Indiana graduation requirement!
Juniors considering midterm graduation for next year, December 2026, should also apply.
You must apply for an FSA ID (electronic pin number) before filing the electronic FAFSA
Apply for this at https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch
You the student will apply for an FSA ID
Your parent will apply for his/her own FSA ID (a parent who already has an FSA ID for another child [or themselves] will keep the same ID for all of their children)
You and your parent will have to use separate emails to receive you FSA ID’s
To file the electronic FAFSA, go to FAFSA at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa
You are filing the 2026/2027 FAFSA version because it is for your freshman year in college!!!
You will use your 2024 tax documents and W2’s to help you file
21st Century Scholars MUST file the FAFSA to keep their scholarships!!

Ivy Tech is holding a FAFSA filing help session November 9, 2025 from 2-4 PM. At theTerre Haute location. There should be another session in February 2026.Several college Financial Aid experts will be there to help
