Riverton Parke High School senior, Jazmyne Brooks, recognized the need for additional supplies for the Parke-Vermillion County Humane Society while working there during her WRCTE Veterinary Careers vocational training. Brooks called on fellow classmates in her JAG class to help her with a service project to Stock the Shelter. The week before October 27th, students and staff members were asked to bring donations for the shelter for the chance to wear their favorite hat on Friday. Many items including dog food, cat food, treats, blankets, toys, puppy pads, and cleaning supplies were donated. The group took this one step further and sold bags of popcorn during lunch last week and were able to raise a monetary donation of $250 for the shelter. A special thank you to Mr. Kersey and Mr. Martin who donated the supplies and equipment to make the popcorn. The JAG class teacher is Kimberly Snodgrass.
JAG class members who assisted in Brooks’ effort included, in front from left: Gavin Spence, Daniel Valdes, Damien Bryant, Jazmyne Brooks, Jade Rich, Lillian Tracy, and Haley Rickard.
