Riverton Parke Jr./Sr. High School senior, Carson Cox, was surprised at school Friday with the Pepsi High School Athlete of the Week 2023 Award along with a $500 scholarship. This recognition is sponsored by Refreshment Services Pepsi, 100.7 MIX-FM, 99.9 WTHI, 102.7 WBOW, 98.5 The River, and 97.9 WIBQ. Cox was nominated for this award by someone in the community.
Carson Cox is the son of Phillip and Annette Cox. He is a four-year member of the Riverton Parke Cross Country, Basketball, and Baseball Teams, and a three-year member of the Riverton Parke Track Team. He earned the JV Basketball Defensive Award in 2022 and the JV Basketball Offensive Award in 2023. Cox is a member of the National Honor Society and the Academic Super Bowl Team for math where his team advanced to the state competition. He has earned Academic Excellence, Rural and Small Town Recognition Award, Rising Stars of Indiana Class of 2024, Honor Roll, and Student of the Month. Cox is a ten-year Parke County 4-H member participating in Horse & Pony and Goats. He was selected as the Parke County REMC Washington DC Youth Trip Delegate in 2023 and was also selected as a Parke County 4-H Livestock Youth Ambassador. Cox is a life-long member of Dailey Chapel Christian Church. After high school, Cox plans to study engineering at either Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology or Purdue University.
