Riverton Parke FFA Competes in District VII Contest

Members of the Riverton Parke FFA Chapter competed in the District VII Leadership Development Events (LDE) Contest on Friday, March 10 at Shakamak High School. LDEs promote leadership development by allowing FFA members to showcase their skills through various speeches, demonstrations, and more.  Placing first and advancing to the state contest includes: Jack Harrah - Ag Sales, Jaydon Shaffer - Discovery Creed Speaking, Rhylie Cannon - Freshman Prepared Public Speaking, Natalie Pruitt and Abbie Roderick - Multimedia Scrapbook, and Collin Watson - Employability Skills.  These individuals will compete during the Indiana FFA State Convention in June.  Katilynn Koch was also recognized as a district winner for her Entrepreneurship Beef Production Proficiency.  Her proficiency will compete with others from across the state before State Convention.  Placing second in their contests includes: Joel Harrah and Jaydon Shaffer - Discovery Natural Resources Demonstration, Annie Campbell and Sophie Sanders - Food Science Demonstration, and Annie Campbell - Freshman Extemporaneous Public Speaking.  Placing third in their contest were Kenzie Travis and Hadley Newman - Horticulture Demonstration.  Kenzie Travis and Sarah Brown were also recognized for placing third in the district with their Veterinary Science and Goat Production Proficiencies, respectfully.  Placing fourth in their contests includes: Emily Adams and Sarah Brown - Natural Resources Demonstration, Sophie Sanders - Freshman Creed Speaking, and Hadley Newman - Prepared Public Speaking. Other members who competed includes: Kenzie Mundell and Mary Pruitt - Plant and Soil Science Demonstration, Thomas Koch and Jase Martin - Discovery Animal Science Demonstration, Katilynn Koch - Extemporaneous Public Speaking, Rhylie Cannon, Sophie Sanders, Annie Campbell, and Kenzie Mundell - Quiz Bowl, and Thomas Koch, Jase Martin, Joel Harrah, and Jaydon Shaffer - Discovery Quiz Bowl. Members who competed in the District VII Contest were coached by FFA advisors, Micah Humphreys and Michaela Woods.
