A dual induction of the Riverton Parke National Honor Society (NHS) and the Riverton Parke National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) was held on Thursday, March 5th in the gymnasium followed by a reception in the cafeteria. Fifteen students were inducted into the NHS. NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Four main purposes have guided chapters of NHS from the beginning: to create enthusiasm for scholarship; to stimulate a desire to render service; to promote leadership; and to develop character in the students of secondary schools. Requirements for induction included the demonstration of the characteristics of leadership, service, and character, as voted on by school personnel, and a minimum 3.5 GPA to meet the characteristic of scholarship. NHS sponsor, Kristi Johnson said, “With all of the things we hear that are wrong with schools, kids, society, you name it, this is an example of everything that’s going right.  The night was filled with diligent, responsible, generous students and proud families and friends there to support them. I love being the sponsor for some of RP’s best and brightest!”
