After winning the area contest on November 4th at Terre Haute South Vigo HS, the Panthers secured the final spot to compete at the Loeb Playhouse on the campus of Purdue University for the Indiana Academic Spell Bowl senior division state finals in Class 4.

On November 16th, team captain Macy Johnson led the team at the state competition with a perfect score of 9. Her score was followed closely by her teammate, Gabby Campbell, who accomplished a near perfect score of 8.

The Class 4 State Champion was Barr-Reeve High School, followed by State Runner-Up Washington Township High School, and State Third Place Riverton Parke Jr/Sr High School.

Coach Laura Bennett said of her team: “For seven of our team members, this was their first time competing at the high school level. I hope to see all of them again next year and build our team with incoming junior high members. Jr. high also finished well this year, so we are looking at a strong team for years to come. I'm so proud of all the kids who took time out of their schedules to practice and the parents who supported them. It's nice when that effort is rewarded with a top three finish.”
